Wind energy, like other parts of the global energy industry, still shows a large under-representation of women. Yet opportunities exist to improve the gender balance and make greater use of women’s skills.

At Sulzer Schmid we promote diversity, open career progression and inclusive working conditions that allow women in particular to combine both a family and a rewarding career. Part-time arrangements, flexible working hours, home-office and mentorships were an accepted part of our office culture long before Covid-19.

To further promote women in our industry, three of our colleagues recently joined the network Women in Wind Energy Germany.

“Breaking down the barriers to women’s entry, retention and advancement in the wind industry requires networks and systems for support and mentor-ship. Through our participation in Women in Wind Energy Germany we want to take an active part in this important transformation and engage with other women in leading positions in our industry and contribute to an openness and support among women.” explains Rea Meisinger, CFO at Sulzer Schmid.
